Anna Karina – ‘Sous le soleil exactement’.

From Anna (1967).

Jean-Luc Godard – ‘Anticipation’.

Godard’s final film with Karina. Knowing that, the last shot is such a stunner.

Anna Karina watches ‘The Passion of Joan of Arc’.

In addition to the eight films she made with Godard and her other cinematic performances, Anna Karina has directed two films, starred on the stage (including a production by Bergman), had a long recording career and has written three novels.

A cinephile moment.

Might be writing less than usual while at the Flaherty, so I leave you with this scene from a film called The Go-Getter we played at Austin Film Festival a couple years ago. It’s a good little American indie, with Lou Taylor Pucci and Zooey Deschanel. Here we have Zooey recreating Anna Karina’s part in the Madison scene from Bande à part. So, yeah, I kinda like this.

Spend the Night with Anna Karina.

1.Watching The Passion of Joan of Arc from Vivre sa vie

2. Running through the Louvre from Band a part

3. The book scene from Une femme est une femme

4. “Ma ligne de chance” from Pierrot le Fou

5. The poolhall dance from Vivre sa Vie
